Nexium is used for heartburn, acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and ulcers. It works by reducing stomach acid.
Adults 18 years of age and over: Take 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours while symptoms persist. Do not exceed 6 tablets in 24 hours. Exclude from treatment if stomach upset occurs. Do not exceed 3 doses in 24 hours. Do not exceed 6 doses in any 24-hour. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24-hour. Do not consume more than 3 times a day.Consult your doctor before use, especially if you have conditions like severe heartburn or acid regurgitation (reduced stomach acid in the form of food or water). What I’m thinking about is switching to Nexium, which is not available in the U. S. It seems to be very safe for most people, but I wonder if it might be a good idea for someone in this situation.
I’m taking the generic version of Prilosec, but I don’t have any problems taking it. I just wonder if the generic version of Prilosec is good for people who don’t have problems with heartburn or stomach upset.
I’m also taking Nexium (esomeprazole) to help my cholesterol, so I’ll take a couple of them. I’ve read that you can take Prilosec if you’re taking Prilocen (esomeprazole), but I don’t know if that means that you’re taking Nexium for GERD or something else, since I haven’t had any problems with them in the last few years.
I’ve been taking Nexium for years and I’m not seeing the same benefit as I used to. I’ve been on Prilosec for 2 weeks and I haven’t seen a difference.
I just wonder if it’s good for someone in this situation.

Dr. DavidQ: I take Nexium (esomeprazole). I’m taking Prilosec and it’s been very well tolerated. I’m going to keep taking Nexium. I have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and my cholesterol is getting high. I take it every day, and my heartburn is getting worse.
I don’t know what to do with the stomach upset I got on Prilosec. I take it every day. I don’t have to take it every day, I just have to wait until I’m feeling better before taking it.

Q: My husband has a heart condition. We’ve just been on Prilosec for 4 years and I can’t get him to eat anything. He’s had GERD for the last 6 months. He’s been on Nexium for 2 months now and he’s been eating every day and he’s eating better. I’m wondering if there’s something that might help us. He does eat a good diet, but I don’t know if there’s something that will help him. I’m not sure if I’m getting an upset stomach or something else.
I’m taking the generic Prilosec because I have to have something to eat when I’m taking Nexium. I don’t know if the generic Prilosec will make a difference for us.
